The conference will be held at the Cankarjev dom Cultural and Congress Centre, a multipurpose centre, located in the very centre of the city within walking distance to all major hotels, shops, restaurants and main sights of Ljubljana.

General Information

Money Exchange

The Slovenian legal tender is EUR. Foreign currency may be exchanged at banks, exchange offices, travel agencies, hotels, airports and railway stations. There is a bank in the immediate vicinity of the Congress Centre: Nova Ljubljanska Banka at Trg republike 2.

Automatic Cash Dispensers

Automatic cash dispensers accepting Visa, Eurocard/Mastercard, American Express credit cards and Maestro Cirrus are situated at all main banks in Ljubljana and also at Ljubljana Airport. The nearest cash dispenser to the Congress Centre is at the main entrance to the Maximarket department store located 50 metres from the Congress Centre.

Credit Cards

All major credit cards, such as American Express, Visa, Eurocard/Mastercard, Diners, are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, and shops.

Electricity

Electricity in Slovenia is 220V, 50Hz. Continental Europe (Schuko) plugs are used.

Drinking Water

Tap water is safe to drink in Slovenia.

Time

European summer time, one hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

Slovenia

Ljubljana

The capital of Slovenia is located in the centre of the country, about an hour's drive from the Alps and the Adriatic Sea. Ljubljana is a lively industrial, commercial, administrative, and cultural centre with a population of 300,000 people, of which 54,000 are students. With its cafes, restaurants, shops and galleries, the picturesque Old Town on the banks of the Ljubljanica River is an increasingly popular tourist attraction.

How to Get to Ljubljana

By Train

Ljubljana is an important railroad junction and can be reached by trains from all major European cities. The railway station is within walking distance of the city centre.

By Road

Arriving to Ljubljana by car is easy. Listed below are distances to some nearby cities:

By Air

Ljubljana is best served by its International Airport at Brnik, 23 km northwest of the city, with daily connections to most major European cities. From the airport, Ljubljana can be easily reached either by bus shuttle service to Ljubljana bus station (approx. EUR 10) or by taxi (approx. EUR 40).

You may also find it convenient to use one of the neighbouring airports such as
Trieste (Italy), 128 km southwest of Ljubljana
Klagenfurt (Austria), 90 km north of Ljubljana
Zagreb (Croatia), 141 km southeast of Ljubljana

Arrival and departure transfers by shuttle bus service or private transfers are offered from the Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (commonly known as Brnik Airport), during the period 21st and 24nd September for arrivals and 23th and 26th September 2011 for departures.

Delegates can book their arrival/departure transfer by completing the TRANSFER ORDER FORM on-line.

Possible forms of transfer are:

  • Shuttle bus transfer: 12 EUR per person (max. waiting time 1 hour, price of one-way transfer, VAT included)
  • Private transfer: 42 EUR per car (1-3 persons in car, price of one-way transfer, VAT included)

The company reserves the right to combine transfers for participants of SiNAPSA conference with maximum waiting time 1 hour.

Important: Transfer requests must be submitted by September 15th, 2011.

If you book a transfer, your English-speaking driver will meet you with SiNAPSA 2011 sign located in the Arrival Hall of Jože Pučnik Airport.

Departure times for pre-booked transfers from the hotel to the airports will be announced 24 hours prior to the time of departure at the "Eminenta SiNAPSA 2011 Desk" at the conference venue.
