Presenter guide

General information

The following guide includes instructions for all SNC’25 presenters (Poster and Short Oral Presentation authors, Symposia participants, Plenary speakers and Educational Workshop speakers).

Short oral presentations

A small number of poster abstract authors have been invited by the SNC’25 Programme Committee to give a short oral presentation (SOP) in addition to their posters. SOPs will take place on Thursday, September 18th, between 8.30 and 10.00 a.m., and a computer projection system will be provided in the lecture hall. Using the lecture hall computer is a necessity for all presentations because of the short format and the large number of presentations.

Please, make sure to send your presentation (in PowerPoint or PDF format, slide dimensions 16:9, entitled “SOP_Author name_Author last name”) to [email protected] and [email protected] by September 16th and to test it on the lecture hall computer before the start of the programme on September 18th. Please note that all SOP presenters are required to use the lecture hall computer for their presentations. The lecture hall will be accessible and technical support available between 12:00-12:45 on September 17th and 8:00-8:30 on September 18th. All presenters with short oral presentations should also prepare posters (see below for further instructions).

Speaking time is limited to 10 minutes per presenter and will be followed by a brief discussion. All presenters are kindly requested to adhere to the allotted limit.

Poster presentations

1/ Poster presentation schedule

All SNC'25 participants with accepted abstracts will present their work in poster form. Presenters are requested to mount their posters on Wednesday, September 17th, after 12:00, and leave them up until the closing of the SNC'25, on Friday, September 19th, around 18:45. Poster ID numbers will be available on poster boards, and adhesive tape will be provided. Posters with odd ID numbers shall be presented on Thursday, September 18th (15:00-16:00), and those with even-numbered ID numbers on Friday, September 19th (15:15-16:15). Please see the online programme for your poster ID number.

Each poster session will begin with a guided presentation of each poster, beginning with the lowest number. We ask each presenter to prepare a short (up to 3 minutes) presentation of key points. The presentations will be followed by a short discussion to address any questions from the audience. Presenters are requested to be by their posters, available for questions and discussion at the specified time slot and during coffee breaks (please see SNC'25 Schedule at a glance for further details). Posters not removed at the time of SNC’25 closing will be discarded. SNC’25 Programme and Organising Committees do not accept liability for lost or damaged posters and will not mail posters to authors after the conclusion of SNC’25.

2/ Instructions for preparing effective posters

SiNAPSA Conference is a multidisciplinary event. Remember that people of varying degrees of professional experience and diverse research interests may be viewing your poster. Therefore, you will want to make your points as clear and succinct as possible.

Posters must be brought to the SNC’25 by the presenting author and should not be mailed in advance. The poster boards allow posters up to 180 cm tall and 95 cm wide, A0 portrait format is recommended. Standard elements of the SNC poster include Introduction, Methods, Results (with supporting figures), and a Conclusion or Summary. List of references should be added if published work is cited. Text and figures should be easily read and appreciated from a distance of 1 meter. Use clear graphics and adequately sized font to accomplish this.

Poster title, author(s) name(s) and affiliation(s) should be given at the top. Lettering should be bold and about 3-5 cm in size.

Note of advice for junior poster presenters: succinct display of main elements of the work is key to successful presentation. When writing the text of the poster, minimise narrative and break text into brief paragraphs. Numbered or bulleted lists are a concise, effective way to convey a series of points. Because the amount of body text is restricted, do not go into details. Also, instead of repeating statements from the main text, use figure legends to complement the main text and provide additional valuable information on Methods and Results to the viewers.
